I’m very pleased to welcome the news that this Labour Government will be funding clean power upgrades to help local NHS facilities cut their energy bills.
The Government has announced details of nearly 200 NHS sites that will benefit from funding jointly delivered alongside Great British Energy, including Luton Treatment Centre in Vestry Close, Dallow and Charter House in the town centre.
The sites are set to receive £2,949 and £78,752, respectively, to fund new clean energy technologies and improvements to energy efficiency. This is a share of the total £74 million investment delivered by the government for these upgrades.
Today’s announcement builds on the work of Great British Energy’s solar for schools and hospitals programme, and will mean less money wasted on energy bills and more resources going back into frontline services.
It’s estimated that the measures announced today will save the NHS nearly £30 million a year on energy bills, with a handful of military sites across the country also set to benefit.
This fantastic investment by Great British Energy in Luton will mean NHS facilities spend less money on energy bills and more resources are directed into the thing that really matters – frontline services.
I hugely welcome this news for our town and this Labour Government’s action to improve care and tackle waiting lists nationwide.
